The smell of hot corn deg and melt cheddar is far enough to get the appetite started. Here, the arepas are filled with slowly cooked pulled beef on flank steak, providing a really nice balance between soft, juicy and unsolicited. A simple street food feeling from South America, but home in the kitchen.

  • Step: 10
    1/2 dl tomato puré
  • Step: 11
    1 msk worcestershire
  • Step: 12
6 dl lukewarm water (OBS! only 2 1/2 dl of water if you choose wheat flour & corn flour, for 4 ports)
  • Step: 13
    1/2 tsk salt
  • Step: 14
5 dl white corn flour (PAN) or 2 1⁄2 dl of corn flour, 2 1⁄2dl wheat flour, 1 tsp baking powder (for 4 port)
  • Step: 15
2 msk neutral rape oil (for baking and roasting)
  • Step: 16
    2 dl riven cheddarost

Instructions

  • Step: 1
Pulled beef: Mix the spices with the salt and rub into the meat.
  • Step: 2
Put the meat in a large pot along with 2 crushed garlic gaps (for 4 ports). Pour water so it covers the meat, about 1 liter. Put the lid on and boil for 2 hours.
  • Step: 3
Leave the pepper and hack it. Scale and fine-hack onions and the rest of the garlic. Fresh in oil about 5 minutes. Add tomato puree and worcestershire sauce. Stop another 2 minutes.
  • Step: 4
Take up the meat and save 2 dl of sky (for 4 ports). Cut the meat in strips. Mix meat, onion and pepper milling with about 2 dl of the skies (see tips).
  • Step: 5
Arepas: Display the lukewarm (37°C) water and salt in a bunke. Move down the corn flour to a smooth dough. The dough swells quickly, do not add more flour if it feels loose.
  • Step: 6
Forma 8 round bread (for 4 port), about 10 cm in diameter and 1 1 1⁄2 cm thick, with oiled hands. Fold some oil on average heat about 5 minutes on each side. Let the bench cool under the bench.
  • Step: 7
Put the oven at 180°C and heat the bread about 10 minutes before serving.
  • Step: 8
For serving: Cut up arepas and fill with meat and cheese. Top with any salsa.
